The short-handed Golden Eagles played without leading scorer Dejon Prejean, who was injured in Friday's win.

The Gators, on the other hand, shot 50.9 percent for the game and knocked down eight of their 18 tries from behind the arc.

Cal State L.A. had a 39-34 rebounding edge and also made 23 of their 26 free-throw tries.

The Golden Eagles started well and opened up a 14-8 lead after a layup by Hart with 13:14 left in the first half. The Gators, though, responded with a 20-6 run to take a 28-20 lead with 6:47 remaining in the half.

Cal State L.A. bounced back and regained the lead at 43-38 after back-to-back 3-pointers by Camper before San Francisco State made it 43-41 at halftime after a late 3-pointer by Wessels.

A pair of free throws by Camper gave the Golden Eagles their last lead of the game, 49-47, with 16:50 left. San Francisco State went on a 12-0 run to open up a 59-49 edge with 12 minutes to go.

The Gators took a 12-point edge, 64-52, before the Golden Eagles scored six straight points on two free throws by Camper and baskets by Polo and Rodriguez to make it 64-58 with 8:47 to go.

San Francisco State, though, scored the next seven points to put the game out of reach.
